VHS | GROUND PENETRATING RADAR

Morehead City's Public Services recently acquired a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) unit, to assist with locating underground utilities. The GPR was successfully used at Big Rock Stadium to locate irrigation boxes buried under several inches of soil. The device operates by displaying underground objects as parabola shapes on a screen, allowing for easier identification. It can scan up to 30 feet underground without the need for digging and is safe, emitting only 1% of the signals a cellphone does. The GPR works in various soil types, including through pavement and concrete, and is non-destructive, making it ideal for locating utilities and infrastructure. They're looking forward to using the unit to improve efficiency and service to the community.
